The Choice You Make

Returning to work to get a full paycheck is something that most injured employees are focusing on.  Having to go on Worker’s Compensation because of an accident at work will give you less pay and time at home healing.  Worker’s Comp pays about sixty percent of your normal pay and this smaller paycheck can make life stressful as the injured person sits home to recuperate. For those who choose to return to work early, they will be going against their doctor’s recommendation and this can cause problems.

The doctor knows what he is talking about and a date to return to work should be respected.  Returning to work too early will of course stop your Worker’s Compensation payments and can also aggravate your injury because it is not yet healed all the way.  If your injury gets worse because of this early return to work, you will be left without your Comp pay and so will your employer.

Although it can be hard to sit home and just wait for your injury to heal, it is the better choice and will benefit both you and your employer. Returning to work early might sound like a good idea, but in the long run, it is not.
